I grew up in England riding and showing horses eventually moving onto the thoroughbred world at the age of 18; realizing that working with and around horses had become a lifelong passion. At the age of 21 I headed to the United States to gallop for various outfits at Payson Park, Gulfstream, and Saratoga. After 15 years experience exercising and working as an assistant trainer I branched out on my own in 1999 with a public stable.
Basing my summer operation at Monmouth Park allows me the opportunity to compete throughout the mid-atlantic region to exploring all possibilities for the horses. When stabled Palm Meadows, Boynton Beach, FL. I race at Gulfstream giving my clients opportunities to claim and place their horses where they are best suited. I will also ship to Tampa when appropriate.
Training in the winter months at Palm Meadows gives the horses a tremendous boost in providing a strong foundation prior to shipping north; the sandy surface legs the horses up and the opportunities to work on the turf course is a huge advantage. The weather makes training consistent and Gulfstream provides an great outlet for claiming horses and racing promising three-year-olds.
Racing in New Jersey features a strong three-year-old program plus an enhanced purse structure making competing very lucrative in a economy that has forced many venues to cut purses and/or racing dates.
Delaware/Philadelphia/ NYRA and Monmouth offer multiple claiming levels and various turf conditions allowing the stable to race year-round on the lawn.
I try to match the horses running style to individual jockey’s strengths and their recent success at the meet. Jockeys are known for their ability on the turf, stalkers, speed horses etc., so I use those parameters combined with statistical information for the best fit.
I have a great working relationship with many farms, training centers, and clinics; giving me the opportunity to place your horse with the very best care available for their situation.
I personally attend the yearling sales, reseaching pedigrees and observing the horse’s confirmation to make the most informed decision for your purchase.
